Serragiumenta Castle, a historic Calabrian mansion dating back to the 1600s, presents“The Kintsugi of the Soul.” Anna Tozzi ATò‘s solo painting exhibition.
The exhibition, organized by Sayato as part of the“Altrove – Galleria diffusa ed itinerante” project, is among those officially recognized as part of AMACI’s Nineteenth Day of the Contemporary when Italian art venues open their doors in unison on an agreed day to present contemporary art exhibitions.
The vernissage will be held on Saturday, Oct. 07, at 6 p.m., when the Roman artist’s installation will be unveiled, which for this occasion will be housed in the estate’s small church.
“The Kintsugi of the Soul” presents the most recent works of Anna Tozzi, who has long been dedicated to merging her creative flair with the Japanese technique of kintsugi-literally “repairing with gold”-used since the 1400s for the restoration of ceramic cups.
In the artist’s poetics, the cracks in his works represent not only elements of fracture or rupture but also intimate lacerations of the soul due to the many negative happenings that life often presents. Gold filling serves to enhance these moments of evolution and revolution, giving them their due importance on the level of personal growth rather than hiding them. Cracks are also seen as openings and gashes of the negative, which begins to shatter to allow evolutionary light to pass through.
In the solo exhibition “The Kintsugi of the Soul,” Anna Tozzi ATò exhibits both works from the “kintsugi” collection and works from the “walls” collection.
The exhibition can be visited daily until Nov. 5.
Admission is free.
