Painter, sculptor, designer, cabinetmaker, Tonino Maurizi lives and works in Montecosaro, where he was born on February 19, 1940.
He graduated from the Art Institute of Macerata together with enterprising and creative students such as Dante Ferretti, Valeriano Trubbiani, Francesco Bonanotte, Giorgio Cegna, Guido and Carlo Bruzzesi, Danilo Bergamo and others. A group of young people fascinated by the long wave of futurism which, with new perspectives open to art, nourishes their talent by bringing each of them to solutions that are as original as they are stylistically different.

Feverish anxiety, love of danger, courage, audacity, rebellion are the essential elements that characterize these early years and the father’s carpentry workshop becomes a forge in which to create the first wooden sculptures and artifacts.
Elegant objects full of movement that reflect his feelings and that are well received by the various art dealers in Milan and Rome.

In Milan, his frequentation with artists and students of the Brera Academy introduces him to the world of the neo-avant-garde which allows him to carry out various experiments and to transition from craftsmanship to art and vice versa with an intense and profitable exchange.
But it is the encounter with Ivo Pannaggi’s all-out research that radically changed Tonino Maurizi’s life, taking him away from his country towards Switzerland, France and Northern Europe, where he gets in touch with the ideals of the Bauhaus that they introduce him to industrial and product design, to the functionality of the object and to interior decoration, trespassing from the design of the space towards the scenography, the design of the environments, the fashion.

The many and varied youth experiences that in the early 1960s led him to exhibit his works throughout Italy, are also the lifeblood of his entrepreneurial activity which in a few years has transformed his father’s carpentry into a company and, at the same time, a laboratory where thinking, drawing, planning and creating the new way of living through furnitures, objects, sculptures.

For about twenty years, alongside the company commitment, it has resumed an intense exhibition activity, especially abroad (China, India, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, Spain, Germany, Lebanon, USA, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Israel, Singapore, Palestine, Mexico, Thailand, France, Finland).
